Gears of War 4 is coming, and feelings for it are as mixed as... as...

You'll have to come up with your own Gears of War-themed mixing analogy, as I know nothing about the games. Point is, while there are a lot of people excited for this new installment in the series, starring the children of the protagonists in the last trilogy, there are others who are more miffed about the game's microtransactions, or the fact that the series as a whole simply won't die. Still, Microsoft has been working hard to court the goodwill of one key demographic: PC gamers.

While Gears of War has always had the feel of a Xbox exclusive game, the fourth game will be coming to the PC, with every bell and whistle the console version enjoys, and then some, such as expanded graphical and performance options that PC gamers adore. But to really ensure that PC gamers put Gears of War in their hard drive, Microsoft and NVIDIA are teaming up to give the game away for FREE... as long as you purchase a GTX 1070 or 1080 from a participating retailer first.

Now, these graphic cards aren't exactly cheap: the 1070 is around $360, while the more modern 1089 is $599--but if you're building a high-end PC around now and you're unsure on which graphic card to put into it, well, this might be enough to tip things in its favor. Regardless, this is a pretty swell deal, and since this is one of those Xbox Play Anywhere titles, that means you also get a free copy for your Xbox One, so... that's neat, I guess, although having a high-end PC kind of renders your Xbox One obsolete...

Whatever. Free stuff is good. So enjoy this deal, if you'd like, otherwise... don't. I can't control your life, man. The codes can be redeemed anytime, but you still won't get your game until the worldwide launch of October 11th. So stay on your toes!
