The Armored Core series has stretched from 1997 to 2013, building a massive fanbase in its giant mechanical wake. Its last title was Armored Core: Verdict Day for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. From Software's Marketing Manager, Yasunori Ogura, reassures us in a tweet that the series isn't over just yet.

Thank you for watching the Armored Core 20th anniversary music special program! While I cannot discuss anything right now, we have no intention of ending the Armored Core series in its current state, so I would appreciate it if you can wait a little while longer.

As of this morning (or last night, technically), an Armored Core 20th Anniversary theme released on PlayStation 4 via the PlayStation Store in Japan. This was revealed last yesterday by a different Tweet by Ogura.

With the advancements made in graphical quality over the past five years, the idea of a new Armored Core game sounds nothing less than exciting. Giant Mech is a popular genre with VR games as well, so with the PSVR selling as strongly as it has lately, perhaps there will even be a VR mode for the eventual next game. Time will only tell. Be sure to check back for any updates.
