Whenever something becomes a massive success, there are those adamantly against it. Oftentimes, it's simply because they aren't a fan of the item in question, and they don't believe it deserves its fame. This time, Fortnite: Battle Royale has been cast in a negative light for an unbiased reason. The popular multiplayer game's mobile version is infecting grade schools, interrupting classes and bogging down school Wi-Fi networks.

Twitter is flush with tweets by students and teachers alike talking about Fortnite in school. When they aren't kids anxious to leave class to play more, they're others talking about how problematic the game has become on their daily educations.

Many schools have placed building-wide bans on the game, as well as its competition, PUBG Mobile. Students are often reporting a loss of network reliability since the game's release, and some teachers have even taken to confiscating the phones of students caught playing in class. Despite your feelings towards the game or even the genre, you can't deny that it's having a negative effect on schoolyard harmony.

Unfortunately, the value of schooling is often lost on those still attending them. When I was in school, I'd rather have been playing video games, for sure. This growing trend will certainly cause strain on those trying to teach and manage their students, and on the students who would much rather play Fortnite.

For the faculty looking to resolve this issue, don't bother with catchy slogans. They don't work. But if you want to try anyway, here's one for you.

"Learning is pretty alright! So don't go playing Fortnite!"
