New studios come and go in the games industry all the time, and typically at the smaller end, they’re not worth giving much of a spotlight. After all, more likely than not they’ll just be throwing some half-made asset-flip on Steam and hoping it all pans out. But sometimes, industry experts break away from the studio they grew up in and come together to form something new and great. That was the story behind Boss Keys (RIP) and Red Barrel (still around, thank goodness). Now, it’s going to be the origin story for a brand-new studio, Neon Giant.

The team, which is composed of Tor Frick, Arcade Berg, Erik Gloersen, and Jonathan Heckley, have over 70 years of collective industry experience, having worked on games such as Gears of War, Wolfenstein, Bulletstorm, Doom, and Far Cry 3. So a lot (and I mean a LOT) of first-person action.

Of course, every talented team needs investors, and their investors are Goodbye Kansas, a game investor firm who’s worked with studios like Fall Damage, Tarhead (who made Blast Out), Experiment 101 (who are releasing Biomutant), and others.

While Neon Giant will introduce themselves to the gaming world properly over the next few days, Goodbye Kansas Game Invest CEO Per-Arne Luundberg had this to say about the newest member of their family:

"Neon Giant consists of a real dream team that not only has enormous experience, they also have an incredibly efficient working process. I usually explain that we first and foremost invest in people, no matter how promising their game projects in development are. Neon Giant is a perfect example of this, but they coincidently also have something great in the works—I'm convinced that their first release will be a milestone in Swedish game development."

Not sure what they’re gonna make, but if I had to wager, it’ll involve a lot of guns.
