Far Cry Releases Teaser Video for Game Awards Reveal

New game or just DLC? We don't know.

Far Cry is back in the public eye after Ubisoft released a video teaser for the franchise. With nuclear bombs and makeshift weapons, the studio is making us wait until the Game Awards to know more.

The video begins with the familiar countryside of Far Cry 5. A nuclear explosion occurs in the distance, forming a bright mushroom cloud as a rough-voiced man narrates. Wheat burns and leaves fall. A man finds a buzzsaw in the sand, attaching it to what appears to be a makeshift crossbow of sorts. It then cuts off, asking viewers to tune in for the worldwide reveal at this year's Game Awards.

It's not clear exactly what this is leading toward. A post-apocalyptic theme wouldn't be out of line for the franchise's DLC habits, with vaporwave lasers, zombies, and outer space being previous focuses. But it may also be a new game all on its own.

We won't know for sure until the Game Awards, where more information is planned for a reveal. The show starts at 8:30 PM, Thursday, December 7.

This is the most recent in a line of new game teasers. Speculation believes that a new Alien game, Alien: Blackout, will be revealed at the event, while Obsidian Entertainment is teasing something for the same time. We'll see soon enough.
