Capcom has been bringing the hits these last several years. But can they pull that momentum into a new IP? The major developer/publisher just announced a new title, a co-op competitive sci-fi dinosaur fighting game called Exoprimal.

Revealed during yesterdays PlayStation State of Play, the announcement trailer sets the stage while revealing some gameplay scenarios.

The game takes place in a Sci-fi future, where advance robotics are common. Unfortunately, so are the appearance of strange portals that summon an endless horde of dinosaurs. The players are part of a special team, which are placed in advanced combat suits and sent to areas with inevitable dino invasion to fight them back.

Mechanically speaking, Capcom describes it as a competitive co-op action game where two teams of five players both take on hordes of dinosaurs. With Raptors being the common enemy, larger and more dangerous dinos also appear, including giant triceratops and even the ever famous T-Rex.

How exactly the competitive aspect works hasnt been expanded on. In a way, it sounds like a merger between Hunt: Showdown and Vermintide, but sci-fi and with dinosaurs. More details will inevitably be revealed in time. We hope that PvP isnt too integral to the gameplay loop (like with Hunt: Showdown). We love ourselves a good co-op action game, but mandatory PvP is a big turn off for us, at least when its not the main focus of the game.

Exoprimal is marked to release some time in 2023 on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. Stay tuned for more.
