Whether you're a fan of the professional gaming community or not, it's not waiting up for you. Professional gaming or Esports has been on the rise, and it's quickly becoming a mainstream sport, with events reaching even more viewers than professional sporting championships such as the SuperBowl. News came from Kuwait today stating that the Olympic Council of Asia and Alisports of China came together to add the Electronic Sports video game phenomenon to the 2022 Asian Games as an official medal event.

This news is bound to shock many of the Esports naysayers, but for competitive gamers and fans of the professional gaming scene, this is awesome news. While it will be an official event at the 2022 Asian Games, it will also be featured as a demonstration in 2018 at the 18th Asian Games. While the Olympic Council of Asia stated that the reasoning for this decision is because of their commitment and dedication to the culture and heritage Asian Sports, it's clear that this decision, like most, was made becuase of the profit potential. Esports has become a huge cash-cow and the world is catching on at an alarming rate.

Years from now I believe that Esports will be recognized as a regular professional scene just like any other sport, but for now, this news is bound to fill haters with rage, and spark some debates with too much emphasis on the stereotypes about video games and gamers in general. Among all the hatred and salt, I'll be here, admiring the profession, and marveling at the skill versus my average capabilities.

At the end of the day, money rules the world, and while this is great news for gamers, It doesn't necessarily come from respect of the craft. Whatever the reasoning, I'll take it. No questions asked.
