Epic Games Allows Refund of 2018 Washington Redskin Skins

Cool.

The world of sports was rocked(?) earlier this year when the Washington Redskins decided after 82 years of unabashed racism to finally stop being so racist. Thus, they changed their names to the significantly less offensive (and vastly more generic) Washington Football Team, and while some people were angry, most people were a mix of ambivalent, grateful, or confused as to how this could have taken so long.

Anyway, it's technically a big deal when a sports team of this size decides to re-brand, as there's a lot of Washington Redskin merchandise out there that's now outdated as well as being mildly offensive. While there's no changing all the shirts and hats that have been produced over the years, digital goods are a lot more malleable, which is why Epic Games have decided to adjust their old Washington Redskin Fortnite skins into something a bit more current.

More specifically, eight Fortnite skins -- Rush, Juke, Interceptor, Blitz, Strong Guard, Spike, Gridiron, and End Zone -- have several color and icon variants depending on which team you wanted to support when you bought them. Now that the Redskins are no longer the Redskins, the old Redskin variant is being changed, keeping the color, but losing the logo and the offensive name.

Perhaps keenly aware that even this small change could make certain people big angry, Epic Games is offering players who are angry about this change the once-in-a-lifetime chance to refund their skin. Normally, to refund a purchase, you need to use a limited number of "refund tokens", and it's only valid if you do it in the first 30 days. But with this special offer, you can demand your money back and get it as long as you do it before November 12.

So that's cool, I guess. If you're looking to get, like, $7 USD back.
