Not quite a home, yet.

I would never go so far as to say I was unhappy with Nintendo’s E3 presentation: it was an absolute delight from the beginning to the end. But if there was one area I found a little lacking, it was with the rather short story trailer they had for the upcoming Fire Emblem game, Three Houses. It feels like Nintendo isn’t giving this new game the hype they’ve given a game like Fate or Awakening, and that almost makes me worried.

But for what it’s worth, here’s what we got:

War is coming to the great land of Fódlan. Here, order is maintained by the Church of Seiros, which hosts the prestigious Officers Academy within its headquarters. You are invited to teach one of its three mighty houses, each comprised of students brimming with personality and represented by a royal from one of three territories of Fódlan. As their professor, you must lead your students in their academic lives and in turn-based, tactical RPG battles wrought with strategic, new twists to overcome.

As the story unfolds, your choice of house at the Officers Academy will greatly affect where you stand when the continent becomes engulfed in war. After 5 years, former friends from the academy must now face each other on the battlefield as bitter enemies. Which house, and which path, will you choose?

I think we got more from the YouTube description then we got from the video itself. I suppose the video does prove that the game incorporates a timeskip, which might be really good for my hope that this game has matchmaking in it, or it could be really bad… it’s hard to tell with these games sometimes.

Anyway, I guess Nintendo didn’t want to waste too much time on a game that’s almost here, because we’ll get a chance to enjoy fantasy mercenary Hogwarts on July 26.
