Apex Legends is EA's take on the battle royale genre. While not quite overtaking the current king called Fortnite, it's still one of the most successful Battle Royales of this generation.

During this year's E3 press event, EA Play, The publisher is revealing new weapons, skins, and even a new Playable Legend. They even drop the first details regarding Season Two of Apex Legends.

First, the announced a Double XP weekend from June 7-9, the weekend of E3.

After that, they revealed the first details of Season Two, named Battle Charge. It begins on July 2.

It will feature a new weapon, the L-Star. This Gold Level weapon is so powerful, they claim, that it can only be found in drop boxes. Taking special ammo, this automatic weapon fires energy charges that are powerful enough to bust open doors and windows.

They then detail some new skins coming, for both weapons and legends, alike.

Season Two will have its own ranked mode. With six different tiers, this will help players be matched into other players of the same skill level. You'll receive a number of awards at the end of the season, depending on what tier you finish the season in.

Now the big news: the next playable legend. Introducing Wattson!

Premiered with an animated trailer, Natalie is a young female scientist. She's mastered quantum laser mechanics and has taken those skills to protect the people she cares about. In lore, her father and she invented the Ring used in matches.

Meta-wise, the developers described her as a defensive character, focusing on creating a strong, fortified location.

Skill wise, Wattson can build electric fences on the fly, forming protective barriers. You can place up to 12 at a time and they can connect together to form walls. Allies can travel between them. Enemies will both take damage and automatically ping your team.

Her ultimate, Interception Pylon, can lay down a barrage of grenades and attacks, while also boosting the charges of allies around her. This allows people to confidently fortify their location.

Wattson's passive skill is simple but effective. Any ultimate charges she uses will automatically grant 100% charge.

The entire session concludes with a teaser shot of a player jetpacking past a massive monster as it's gigantic eye watches. Spooky. More will come about that in the near future.
