Pokemon Go is about to have some high-fantasy competition here soon. Square Enix has announced their own augmented reality mobile game: Dragon Quest Walk!

The Japanese trailer showcases the game the same way Pokemon GO did when it was first announced. It's about a minute and a half of real-world footage with famous Dragon Quest creatures interacting with the locals.

The very end does reveal some information, however. We see a smidgen of gameplay footage, where the player finds a slime on a real world map and enters a turn-based combat phase against them. It also reveals that the game will be coming to iOS and Android in 2020.

Not to sound like a broken record, but this is essentially Dragon Quest's take on the Pokemon GO craze, even going as far as incentivizing walking around.

Currently, there's no word whether the game will be coming to the United States or if it will stay a Japanese exclusive. Dragon Quest is far more popular in the East, after all. So much so, that they're even producing a feature-length animated film.
