Double Agent is an Among Us Style Call of Duty Game Mode

Call of Duty continues to follow those trends. This time, its with a new game mode similar in concept to that of the popular multiplayer deception game, Among Us.

A new game mode is coming to Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War. Coming as part of Season 5, its called Double Agent. The mode is like an interesting combination of Among Us and Counter Strike.



In Double Agent, 10 players will be assigned to a random role. Most will be operatives, the innocent players tasked with defending the map and defusing any discovered bombs. Some of them will be double agents, whose job is to plant bombs and eliminate the other operatives without being discovered. The draw of it all: the operatives dont know who is a double agent, and have to be careful who they trust. Lastly, one player will be the Investigator, an operator with the ability to collect clues and assign orders that assist the innocent operators.

This follows the theme of other social deception games that have been popular the last couple of years, like Among Us and the Trouble in Terrorist Town game mode for Garrys Mod.

It makes complete sense for this to happen, really. Call of Duty did something similar not that long ago, implementing a Hide and Seek game mode to WWII. This mode is based on another Garrys Mod game called Prop Hunt, where one team hid as inanimate objects while the other looks for them.

While Double Agent does sound like fun, we dont currently support Activision or their products. Activision Blizzard is currently undergoing a lawsuit due to rampant sexual harassment and discrimination. Some truly awful behavior has been revealed to be happening in that company and we dont support that. So unless they get a lot better, real quickly, then we cant imagine giving the new game mode a try.

Regardless, Double Agent will release on Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on August 12 as part of the Season 5 update.
