Fans have been waiting a very long time for Beyond Good & Evil 2. The sequel's announcement at last year's E3 event sparked the flames of excitement. Now we see what the game's development has been up to since then, including gameplay footage.

The video is about two minutes long, cutting between gameplay, development footage, and dev commentary. With repeated reminders that this is a work and progress and a pre-alpha watermark, it's clear that the footage is of some rather early-in-development gameplay. In it, we see a number of different space crafts flying through the sky, often in formation with other crafts. It is implied that these other crafts are other players.

We also see a fair bit of footage of Shani, the female protagonist, twirling a staff about. Most of the time it appears to be a practice routine, the rest is actual combat

Ubisoft Montpellier is saving its best stuff for this year's E3, such as a more in-depth look at the game's mechanics. Interested individuals can take part in the development process through what they're calling the Space Monkey program.
