From Software has really made a name for themselves over the years, especially recently. Their Souls series has become infamous for it's style and difficulty. We've either all tried to master the worlds of the undead, or we know someone who has. That's why it's easy to get excited when the creator of Dark Souls, Hidetaka Miyazaki, announces in an interview that the company is working on three new projects.
  • A spiritual successor to Dark Souls, but taking the dark fantasy setting in a different direction.
  • A game that reboots a franchise that borrows from recent successes, like Dark Souls.
  • Something completely different from what they've been working on.
The first point could be assumed to be the next Dark Souls title. It may different, like how Bloodborne was, but will still hold the same feel. The third one is too vague and hard to peg at the moment. However, it's good news when a company wants to branch off and try something different. The real intrigue is in the second one. One bit of speculation is that this could be a revitalization of Armored Core. Bringing that back with a dash of Dark Souls could be a great addition to the giant mech scene. I know I would at least want to see it in action.
