Cyberpunk 2077 Developers are Being Sued for Misleading Investors

Specifically about the last gen versions of the game.

By this point, just about all of us have heard about the rough state that Cyberpunk 2077 is in, especially on previous gen consoles. But we didnt expect the problem to be so bad that the developers would be taken to court over it. A law firm has filed a suit against CD Projekt S.A. over misleading investors about the state of the game.

According to a report by gamesindustry.biz, Rosen Law Firm has announced that they have filed a class-action lawsuit against the company. The main argument theyre making is that executives lied to investors about the state of the game for Xbox One and Playstation 4. The firm describes those versions of the game as unplayable due to the number of bugs and technical issues.

"Defendants' statements about its business, operations, and prospects, were materially false and misleading and/or lacked a reasonable basis at all relevant times. When the true details entered the market, the lawsuit claims that investors suffered damages."

They arent the only company that thinks so, either. The quality and stability of the game on previous generation consoles came as such a surprise to consumers that both Xbox and Sony opened up a non-standard system for issuing refunds. Sony even went as far as to remove the game from the PS4 marketplace entirely.

Currently, the firm does not have a lead plaintiff for the suit. Instead, they are asking for shareholders interested in participating to fill out an online form.

They might not even be the only suit that CD Projekt sees. There's a separate instance where a polish attorney is interested in taking the company for similar charges in Poland, where the developers originate.

Our sympathies for anyone who purchased Cyberpunk 2077 on these consoles. Those interested in playing the game will have the best experience on better-end gaming PC and on Google Stadia.
