It was just two weeks ago that Cuphead, the indie side-scrolling shooter with the punishing difficulty and the unforgettable art style, hit one million in units sold: a big deal for such a small studio. And while Studio MDHR still has plenty of problems, slowing sales certainly isn't among them, as the game has officially hit "double platinum", meaning it's hit the 2 million units sold mark just earlier today.

To celebrate, they posted this short but heartfelt post on their official blog:

Hello friends! Much to our shock and amazement, we can announce that Cuphead has now sold over 2 million copies across all platforms. Even in our wildest dreams, we never thought our crazy little characters would be embraced by this many fans from around the world and we are continuously humbled by your support.

So to everyone who has drawn fan art, composed memes, performed songs, conquered challenge runs, streamed their playthrough, or just played Cuphead and had a good time, we love and appreciate all of you from the bottom of our hearts.

Thanks to the best fans in the world and here’s to a joyful 2018!

Cuphead was always going to be a big deal, of course. The game looked fantastic from it's earliest footage and every time a member of the press got their hands on a copy they would shower praise upon it (and spark stupid, stupid controversies), but two million is still a huge deal. At least we know it's well-deserved!

So congrats to the team! Here's hoping whatever you come out with next compares!
