The Winters family has been through a great deal at this point. But they dont get to rest just yet, maybe. Capcom has confirmed that DLC for Resident Evil: Village is now in the works.
Announced during Capcoms E3 2021 presentation, the company confirmed that, due to the overwhelming reception of the recently released survival horror game, they are starting production on DLC.
Thats it. No footage was shown, no name was given. No details in any capacity were provided as to the nature of the DLC. It was just a black screen with white text, saying that theyre starting on DLC.
This is somewhat surprising, in a business sense. Very often, when it comes to major titles like this, companies will be working on DLC for games early. So early, its often started before the game is actually out yet. This announcement implies that they did not plan for DLC, but wanted to wait to see how well-received it would be before starting on any. In terms of conservative financial resource management, its a smart move. But since the game WAS a success, it means theyve lost time, which can be equally valuable in such a fast-paced community.
We wont make any guesses, estimates, or ideas as to what the DLC might be. Whatever we said would be complete speculation. But we like Resident Evil: Village, and look forward to learning more about it in the future.
