One of the most anticipated sci-rpgs of this year is well, no longer coming out this year. Bethesda has announced the delay of two major upcoming titles: Starfield and Redfall. Both games will now be releasing some time in 2023.

Announced on Twitter, Bethesda has delayed the two games until the first half of 2023. They stated that the delay is to ensure that the development studios behind each game have the time they need to ensure a fully fleshed out experience.

The teams at Arkane Austin (Redfall) and Bethesda Game Studios (Starfield) have incredible ambitions for their games, and we want to ensure that you receive the best, most polished versions of them.

Most folks tuned into the gaming world probably have heard about Starfield. Developed by Bethesda Game Studios (the folks behind the Fallout and Elder Scrolls games), itll be the studios first foray into a sci-fi setting. Described as a Han Solo Simulator of sorts by the developers, theyve promised a great deal for the title so far. Much remains to be seen, however, with nothing more than a cinematic in-engine trailer to show so far. Though to be fair, they do have a history of not showing gameplay until shortly before the games launch, regardless.

Redfall, on the other hand, is Arkanes next game. A post-apocolypse style 4 person co-op shooter (think Left 4 Dead), its an action packed fight between four super powered protagonists and a massive horde of supernatural vampire-like humans.

Both titles were intended to release later this year as Xbox exclusives, they both were going to be available day 1 on Xbox Game Pass, we believe. The delay is an unfortunate hindrance for fans of the studios who looked forward to their releases. But its important that we not be outwardly angry or aggressive about the news. If a game needs to be delayed to keep the studio from implementing unhealthy workplace crunch practices, then we will happily wait. And we know how much Bethesda loves having a November release date, they would not have made this decision lightly.

The announcement does finish off with them saying that they cant wait to share our first deep dive into the gameplay for both Redfall and Starfield soon. So with any luck, we will get new footage for the games to help us see just what the games will be like here soon.
