Battlefield getting New UI For Seamless Game-hopping

The Battlefield games will be more connected than ever before.

Everyone's up in arms (GET IT?) over the upcoming Battlefield 1, which we've already decided is going to revolutionize the FPS despite the fact all we've really seen is two 2-minute trailers and a gameplay segment at this year's E3. While we can certainly hope Battlefield 1 manages to do that, and maybe reign in Call of Duty so people can go back to the series they secretly still prefer, but while that's all a hope, what we know for sure is that EA is planning some big changes for the entire Battlefield series... specifically, a much-needed and very welcome update to the game's UI.

The new UI will let players form squads, as they could with the old one, but this adds a new twist: rather than forcing players to stick to one game, they will now be able to "hop" between any game everyone owns. So you could be playing a match of Battlefield: Hardline, then, when it's done, move over to a Battlefield 4 map next, making the multiplayer modes in the Battlefield franchise more interconnected than ever before. It will also include a bunch of unspecific fine-tunes, such as suggested maps, modes, and more 'relevant information' between matches.

Right now, it's going to be beta-tested for Battlefield 4, but will be launched with Battlefield 1, and make the transition to Battlefield: Hardline soon after that. So your ability to shoot, stab, explode, and generally wreck across space and time has been elevated to new heights of convenience. Swell beans.

Now if only people still played Battlefield 4.
