Baldur's Gate 3 has been in early access for a few weeks now, and while the game is far from complete -- missing classes, characters, and whole chunks of the story -- people have still been eagerly playing the game, going on adventures, and of course, smooching NPCs. In fact, according to an interview with IGN, Swen Vincke, founder of Larian Studios, summarized Baulder's Gate 3 players thusly: "they're all horny."

“I think we have one percent [of players] that's not interested [in romances], so we've put a lot of effort into making sure the parts are there. So anybody who tells you the opposite, I can tell you that's not true.”

He also added that a lot of people seem to go out of their way to be evil to get it on with the villainous dark elf Minthara, but acknowledged that the lack of any "good" characters could also explain that supernatural thirst. Fortunately, that's something they plan to fix.

“But we’ve only put the ‘evil’ and the ‘neutral’ ones out there. We haven't put any of the ‘good’ characters in yet, so I think that will balance that... I didn't expect people to be that sensitive to how the companions thought of them, and the fact that we didn't put the ‘good’ characters in there. I didn't see that one coming. In hindsight, it's cool because it means [players] care.”

That's not all they talked about, of course: another thing they talked about was how the game currently runs purely on RNG. You succeed or fail on the roll of the dice. And while that can be tolerable in the tabletop, where you have a lot more flexibility in action (and DM mercy), it feels less good in a more ridged virtual space, so they plan on making adjustments.

"We see the people that have really bad luck, and they are really, really angry over it. So, we're going to help them. We're going to add modes to the game that are going to go with things like a loaded die, and that's going to be a bit more manageable. We'll still keep the option of having full RNG in there. We'll experiment with that throughout early access, and see what we should make the default option. That's one of the things that will be driven by the analytics.”

Hopefully, those little cheats will help people who are struggling with the game... and their horniness.
