Apple became famous because they took concepts and technology that other people made, and they improved them in all the most obvious ways, while also giving them a new, sci-fi kind of aesthetic. It seems Alienware has taken a page from their playbook because they just revealed a brand-new portable gaming PC that’s not so much “inspired” by the Nintendo Switch as it is a blank-faced rip-off… and, arguably, upgrade.

You can read the whole reveal over on Tom’s Guide, but here are the basics:

Called “Concept UFO”, this portable gaming platform is pretty much exactly what you think it is - it’s a Switch that’s bigger, has better graphics, and with sturdier construction. And when I say it’s a Switch, I mean that in just about every way imaginable: the controllers on either side of the screen can be removed and played with a controller or as two remotes. You can prop it up for local play. You can even dock it into a station and project the screen on a TV. It’s… literally a Switch. Alienware made a sequel to the Switch that plays PC games.

It's got other improvements too. On top of the bigger screen, it’s got cooled controllers (which will be necessary if you run a more graphically intense game in handheld mode) and a vibration feature, which you need a dedicated pro controller to get on the Switch.

That said, this was just a preliminary reveal: there’s no news yet on if it plans to go to market, what its specs are, or even how much it would cost, but you can believe it’ll cost a whole lot more than the Switch’s 300 bucks. There’s also a host of other small problems, such as a lack of meaningful local multiplayer, but that kind of thing can probably be addressed between now and an eventual release.

Regardless, if Nintendo ever had a reason to sweat, I guess this would be it.
