You know the feeling - you're sitting there playing your favorite fire mage in World of Warcraft, and in the back of your head, there is just one thing missing. Every time you throw a Pyroblast, all you feel is the stagnant air conditioning flowing around your room. Well soon that boring old A/C won't be bothering you anymore. Whirlwindfx has created a gaming fan called the Vortx that creates hot or cold air blasts, depending on what is happening in the game you are playing. It is the first step into the world of 4D gaming, we are one step closer to being able to smell horror games... finally!

The Vortx sits on your desk just like any desktop speaker but if a dragon in Skyrim decides its time to heat things up and breathes fire at you, a blast of hot air will be shot at you through the Vortx. It also works the same for the other side of the spectrum, let's say you're navigating Hoth in any Star Wars game that has ever been created, well the Vortx has you covered with a cold air stream to throw you right into the action. This new peripheral also comes with an adjustable nozzle and intensity control in case you can't stand the heat.

This technology is all thanks to the Ex Algorithm the fancy name given to the algorithm that decides when and how hot or cold the air needs to be. It takes in data while playing a game or watching a movie and responds based on what you are seeing and hearing. This might just be the perfect time to bring out 4D peripherals too. With VR becoming such a booming industry, the addition of real stimuli could really create an immersive experience. Although it is not quite out yet, you can pre-order the Vortx here for $119.99. Do note that the official ship date is February 12, 2018.
