The last three years have been slow and painful ones for Hollow Knight fans. But they may not need to wait much longer. Xbox, in their recent not-E3 showcase, indirectly established that the highly anticipated sequel, Silksong, will be releasing some time in the next 12 months.

The Xbox Bethesda showcase took place on Sunday. During the event, we saw a slew of game announcements. This included a new trailer for Hollow Knight: Silksong. Since its initial reveal in 2019, fans of the popular indie metroidvania game have been fervently wishing information about the next game, especially a release date. The showcase trailers intended reveal was that the game will be releasing on Game Pass on launch day. And while thats great news, its not what most folks have clung to.

Instead, theyre focusing on a statement made at the beginning of the showcase itself. An Xbox spokesperson stated that absolutely everything seen at the event will be available within the next 12 months. Since we saw a Silksong trailer, this implied that included that game. When this same statement is parroted on Twitter by the official Xbox account, this exact question is asked. While they didnt give a direct yes, they did reaffirm their initial statement.

That's exactly what we said.

Granted, this could mean anything between this winter to Summer of 2023. Either way, this is still the closest thing weve gotten to a release window for the game, and thats something to look forward to.

Our prediction: Were going to see an official release date this winter, during The Game Awards that Geoff Keighley hosts every December. But thats just a prediction, we dont actually know for sure.
