A couple days ago, JRPG fans were teased of an upcoming title from Spike Chunsoft and tri-Ace, which features Valkyrie Profile writer Masaki Norimoto. Soon after, the curtains have been raised to reveal "Exist Archive: The Other Side of the Sky."

Exclusive to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, this game is already set for release by the end of this year in Japan. As in 2015. As in yes. Famitsu goes into detail of Eternal Archive in a 14-page spread with some interesting tidbits:
  • The synopsis: "In a world that rules over life and death, 12 people go against fate." These 12 youths actually wield evil gods within.
  • The setting is modern day Tokyo and the planet Protolexa.
  • It is a dungeon-crawler with side-scrolling platforming stages similar to Valkyrie Profile.
  • Additionally, the battle system "Active Chain Battle" is also similar to Valkyrie Profile, where each character is assigned a single button. However, players must also react to attacks and use strategy if they hope to earn some cooler rewards.
  • Another similarity to Valkyrie Profile? You'll send characters from Protolexa back to Earth, which prevents you from using them as party members ever again, but this also drastically alters the ending.
  • The game is expected to last 40 -50 hours.
A game like Valkyrie Profile? Sign me up! Assuredly, lots of fans will be clamoring for this title months before release. But when is the release date? Guess we will just have to wait. Hopefully in the future we will see a release date early in 2016 for North America. The official site will fully open August 3, 2015.
