We hope you werent looking to brush up on your guitar skills this winter. Ubisoft UK has announced that Rocksmith+, the upcoming subscription based guitar learning game, has been delayed into 2022.

Revealed during E3 2021, Rocksmith Plus (or Rocksmith+, but web URLs dont like special characters) is the next in a line of music learning games by Ubisoft. What set the franchise apart, however, is the ability to plug in your own real-life guitar into the PC/console and use that as your controller. Rocksmith Plus took a different approach, making it an online-based platform with a subscription model instead of single payment.

On Wednesday, Ubisoft UK posted a statement on Twitter, announcing the delay.

To ensure we provide the best guitar learning service, we have decided to delay Rocksmith+ until 2022. We will use this opportunity to incorporate user feedback from our Closed Beta. We are convinced that this new release plan will give us time to deliver a smooth experience for all guitar and bass lovers.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. We can't wait to share more about Rocksmith+ soon.

Like they mentioned, Ubisoft held a closed beta for the service. General reception was lackluster, remarking on a certain lack of entertainment from the process and missing features. They clearly took this feedback to heart.

All in all, this seems like the smart move. Too often are games pushed out to meet deadlines or holiday seasons, and they end up feeling half-complete or unrefined. Taking time to make sure everything is smooth and satisfactory is the right choice.
