The biggest breakthrough game of 2017, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, will be getting a mobile phone version of the game, according to Tencent, a popular video game publisher in China. The publisher has been in business with developers Bluehole in order to get the massively successful game on smartphones for Chinese players.

While they promise to keep PUBg mobile as true to the original as they can, skepticism towards their ability to translate the game fluidly to a touchscreen has been prominent. There are a number of Battle Royale style games on the mobile market already, so the idea remains feasible, at least.

Assumably due to this partnership, the game will be launching in China first. No details regarding release date or market expansion have been released at this time. With over 20 million worldwide sales it's hard to imagine it won't be released to other countries at some point.

Tencent has recently shaken hands with the people at Bluehole to bring a slightly modified version of the game to Chinese audiences. This version would better accommodate the socialist core values, Chinese traditional culture, and moral rules.

More information regarding the mobile version has been promised to be released in the near future.

Currently, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is available on PC for $29.99. Xbox One and PS4 ports of the game are expected in the future, with the Xbox One port already in progress. Keep in mind the game is still in Early Access and will undergo a number of changes over time.
