Minecraft: Story Mode Listed for $100 Each Chapter on Xbox 360

But for a valid reason.

Minecraft isn't as "for everyone" as we thought. The recently discontinued narrative RPG Minecraft: Story Mode has a bit more on its price tag than before. The game's Xbox 360 listings are set to a hefty $100 each chapter.

To be clear, the listing is only on the Xbox 360 Marketplace, it's very real, and you WILL be charged $100 if you try and purchase it.

First reported on by Polygon, the listing appears to be a necessary deterrent. Found on the official Minecraft: Story Mode Facebook page, they explain that while the game was removed from other platforms, it has to remain listed on the Xbox 360 market if existing customers wanted to re-download the game.

"The only solution to this situation is to re-list the downloadable content for purchase. So, to assist existing customers, all the downloadable Episodes for the two Minecraft: Story Mode titles are temporarily re-listed but, to deter new purchases, they will be re-listed at a very high price! The price shown is a real list price, please do not buy the content, if you do, you will be charged the amount shown. This is simply the only mechanism available to facilitate players being able to download their remaining episodes prior to servers shutting down."

With eight episodes in Season 1 and five in Season 2, that's a total of $1,300 one could potentially spend on this game. That's almost as much as all of the Sims 3 DLC!

This will not stay this way. They've officially announced that the games will simply be unavailable on June 25, 2019. This period of time is to allow people to download the games before they go offline for good.

It's strange that this is happening with Minecraft: Story Mode, and none of the other Telltale games. But again, this is only temporary.
