The anticipated sequel to Maple Story has arrived!

Maple Story 2, the follow up to the popular MMO platformer, has formally launched as a free to play game. It was announced back in April, surprising fans of the franchise with the new, 3D visual and design. Now the game is open and available for everyone to try out for themselves.

One of the many changes includes a new job: Runeblade. This role rests comfortably in the middle ground between melee and magic. Looking to avenge their teacher's death, a runeblade will use Pelgian bladecraft and Jibrician rune magic to make it happen.

When not fighting, you can visit the luxurious Karkar Island, an island resort to relax. No, wait, it appears that the entire island is infested with insects, zombies, and rebellious game consoles.

"Party up with your friends and delve into six new Normal Adventure Dungeons, and when you think you're ready, grab 3 well-armed buddies and venture into the new Labyrinthine Halls Hard Adventure Dungeon. There's plenty you'll have to contend with as you reach for the new level cap of 60! Get more Ability and Skill Points, upgrade your gear and show the forces of darkness that the cute is not to be underestimated!"

Players can also use a new item known as the Style Crate. These containers hold a vast collection of cosmetic items like clothing, jewelry, and even weapon skins. Don't like what random items you've been given? You can redeem the items for style coins, which can be used to get exclusive outfits.

Maple Story 2 is available for PC for free. For more information, visit the official website.
