Seems like the franchise Descent is ready launch again as Eric "Wingman" Peterson - known for Starlancer, Conquest Frontier Wars, Star Citizen, and Wing Commander - has announced his newest project on KickStarter.

The newest first-person-vehicle shooter PC title, "Descent: Underground," will feature the unique six-degrees-of-freedom gameplay aspect and other feature upgrades, such as the Voxel technology, customizable ships, team and individual play, changeable maps, special weapons and upgrades, and plenty more.

The game will also involve some distinctive PvP where players can battle against a maximum of 30 other players to acquire the minerals needed to sustain life on Earth.

Peterson, the CEO of Descendent Studios, has stated:

We are bringing back that sensational feeling of fighting with six degrees of freedom while playing Descent. But we aren't stopping there, we aim to take it up a few notches, by allowing players to dynamically change the map & customize their ships, to play as a part of a team or simply battle it out rogue style all alone. In addition, players will be able to create items and maps for the universe and get their own creations into the game.

Curious about the premise?

Well, basically Descent: Underground is set around 300 years in the future in the asteroid fields between Mars and Jupiter. Giant corporations have replaced national governments and they have turned to space for mining opportunities. The deposits are often battled for by the corporations and thus pilots are pit against each other to obtain dominance over the deposits, all while being broadcast to Earth.

The news is exciting enough, for the game has already received $163,000 in support for the KickStarter campaign.
