Hey folks. I'm new to the forums but I've known some of the people that run the site for a while. I figured it's time I started jumping in to the discussions. Not much to say, I own a 360, a halfway decent gaming PC, PSP, a homebrew MAME cabinet that I'll be posting a build log of on here later, and will soon have a sexy new 3DS. I play a ton of fighting games and I'm one of those that hopes futilely for a new Eternal Champions (look it up), I have a serious soft spot for RTS games (C&C being my favorite), I dig most FPS and TBS games. I also really wish that arcades were still a viable business so that I could go to a decent one again. I write a few blogs, the best being www.this 8-bit life.com. It consists of rants on technology, reviews of games, media, and devices and tutorials on everything from basic hacking to electronics modification. I also have a lot of interest in starting a podcast, just gotta sit down with my friends and hash out the details, and find some time for it.

Mame cabinet? You sound disturbed. Not judging you or anything...but maiming people or yourself, is not healthy. Your blog sounds interesting. I'm a ranter and whiner when it comes to tech so I think I may like it. I don't often see people who like turn based games. I think I played a few, mostly space TBS 4x games (Space Empires 3 and 4!, Titans of Steel:Warring Suns - cooool TB tactical RPG style character stats mech game). Granted, other than hotseat, I'd get bored and impatient very fast with a TBS! You like Supcom: FA any? It's probably one of my favorite RTS games along with the original Cave Dog releases; Total Annihilation, TA:Core Contingency, TA: Kingdoms etc., and Earth 2150/Moon Project, Starcraft series to name others. I enjoyed Primal Rage and Mortal Kombat series on the console and some arcade. Now and then I'll boot up Street Fighter and PR on my emulator. MAME32 or something.

Lol, I have been known to do so from time to time. Sadly last time I went to Quakecon I wasn't able to get into the BYOC area.

@Ranga, Yea a few friends and I have been kicking around the idea of a soapbox podcast (think everyone gets 10 minutes to rant or bitch, then we discuss). But I'd love to do a gaming podcast, maybe Gamerz Unite needs one?

You should definitely check out the site if you're interested. I'm considering moving platforms or actually buying a better custom site soon since traffic seems steady, Squarespace works great but I'd like more flexibility, I have a few friends and acquaintances who run other blogs, I have seriously considered building a blog network.

Also, I friggin loved TA! That game ruled my world when i was little.

Kevin, I have a few mic's that's about all. Though I had just intended to Skype or Google voice a podcast. Do you have something higher end in mind? Also what do you mean by 'details'?

OH! You mean hosting my blog. I gotcha. Well I'd have to wait on anything like that atm anyhow, I still have time paid for thru squarespace. After that though I might be very interested in switching over. It'd be kind of ironic for me to be hosted by SL lol. I dig it.

Hey, i just joined, thought i'd just say hi before i go browsing more. Didnt wanna fuzz with a new thread, so i kinda just borrowd this one, sorry... I'm old school, been around since Delta Force 1&2, to CS 1.3 nad up to about 4 years ago when i put gaming on a shelf for a while. But now i'm getting settled again, and thought i'd might pick up on some good old fraggin. Ok, thats the short story, so, dunno what more to say... Nice to be here btw =)

I like any genres rly, depends on the game itself. Everything from Civilization to Unreal Tournament, from Dos games til the latest of the late. I dont have the most awesome setup, but it works, amd phenom 2, hd5770 and etc etc. So far i've ran pretty much everything there is, at a very decent playable framerate.

I have that same 5770 1 GB card, I ran BF Bad Company 2 and everything else before it just perfect, on my Phenom II 2.6 then 3.5Ghz pc. Have you played World of Tanks? Haha.
