This has got to be the dumbest thing ever...

SCI FI Channel to become Syfy; “Imagine Greater” is new message

I love how there's literally no positive comments, lmao and here's one I posted on there...

First wrestling, now this?!!??!?

I can somewhat understand having a show like Ghost Hunters since it deals with the paranormal which is sort of attached to "Science Fiction" but changing the name to L33T Speak isn't what I'd call a good idea.

I mean I somewhat see part of the point in that they can copyright the name but I actually think it will be more difficult for people to remember. And is Howe smoking crack? I can't remember one time I've seen a text or I've sent one saying "Check out the syfy channel", lol, come on now, we're not stupid.

My guess is they're going to venture into airing reality tv as well as some sappy dramas. Just look at Caprica and how it really doesn't have much to do with battlestars. I mean, it looks like a good drama sure but when I dive into that universe, I want to see Battlestars! lol

Also, as many have said, I was also one of those people that miss the old Sci Fi. Back when there was mostly sci fi programming on. The downfall began with the butchering of Sliders and then continued with the cancellation of Farscape and First Wave, two of the best shows Sci Fi has ever had. If I were to jump ahead in time from back then to now, I simply would not recognize the channel.

Wouldn't it be great to have a channel in which they viewers decided what kind of shows should stay and go in regards to genuine science fiction? One can only hope that with the ever evolving Internet that maybe a new channel could spring up that could be half Internet / half tv based that the viewers controlled. Wishful thinking indeed.

So yeah, you have the winner;

(SyFy) Stupidity & Short sightedness: 1
(SciFi) Common Sense: 0
