Kevin and Jake advised me on getting Star Trek Online. I think I will but damn, I think my life will disappear if I do. Besides that, Halo 3 ODST and Modern Warfare 2.

I love star trek, but I like Fantasy MMO's better, ya know with swords and shiz, rather than futuristic. I can just imagine the battles being a bit too laggy. If they do a free trial then I might give that a go, but I don't want to buy the game and find I dislike it. (It could also ruin some of my love for star trek, if I play and find it shockingly bad)

First off, if you pre order ($5 USD) then you get a Beta key so it's a free trial, almost. Second, myself and others included have experienced the game and it's very smooth considering how beautiful it is in terms of graphics, especially in space and the battles you can have there. I have experienced no lag whatsoever when playing.

You may not have experienced any lag sir, but keep in mind that the game is not officially out yet and once it is and it becomes swarmed with players lag shall be inevitable especially in the larger battles if the graphics are as good you say.

Well as much as it's been down lately, my guess is that they're doing major upgrades prior to launch so perhaps they won't have any issues past launch, hopefully.

There will always be lag on online games, unfortunately it is inevitable. And I agree that as soon as more players start to flood in the servers will slow down and things won't be so smooth.

As I said before, I haven't noticed lag, it's either on or it's off, no in between really.

And as we've both said... ITS STILL IN BETA lol Wait for the game to be released and they'll make the same mistake every MMO did and not be prepared for the flood of players. The game will lag and it will drop every other day for them to fix the bugs and support it enough to handle all the people. Wait for it to come out, give it a good 2-3 months and then maybe it will run smoothly lol

Well that's the business model you must have really to begin. Otherwise "what if" the amount of players don't come and they lose a ton of money on a large infrastructure?
