Stadia is Getting a PAC-MAN Battle Royale Game

Exclusively, at least for a time.

Not content with just making their own Pac-Man version of Super Mario Maker, it seems that the folks at Namco-Bandai are also looking to ape the Battle Royale genre, because they just announced (via a Stadia presentation) PAC-MAN Mega Tunnel Battle, which... well, is a Pac-Man battle royale.

Here's the trailer:

While the trailer had no shortage of colors, noises, and peppy music, it did a pretty bad job of actually communicating how it's supposed to work. Unfortunately, those details are scarce, but we do know that it plays like a normal round of Pac-Man, except you can go to other people's mazes, eat their pellets, steal their power-ups and bonus points, and presumably cause havoc. It's not abundantly clear if you can directly hurt or kill your enemy Pac-Men, or if you simply have to outlast them against an increasingly aggressive horde of ghosts.

One final interesting element: audience participation. Spectators can actually vote on which power-ups spawn, which is an obvious attempt to grab streamer's attention.

In any case, the game will cost you $20 and you'll need a Stadia account, but you can apparently play a demo for free. It's set to launch on November 17, with a launch on other platforms planned at some point in the future.
