Wii love U! Okay, a bit corny, but assuredly it’s how the developers feel at the moment. Between November 21st and November 23rd, the famous publisher Nintendo has sold over 490,000 copies of Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U. This six figure amount represents both the sales at retail stores and at digital stores. This makes this game the fastest selling Wii U game ever, dethroning Mario Kart 8. This is good news for Nintendo, considering that Super Smash Bros. has sold well alongside its cousin, Super Smash Bros. for the 3DS. Since its portable release, Super Smash Bros. has sold more than 3.22 million copies as of the end of October. Despite the extremely rare glitches that have emerged on both the Wii U and 3DS versions, this game will continue to sell extremely well.

Nintendo’s greatest incentive for buying both copies seems to help sales some. Those that have purchased both versions will receive the famous Pokemon Mewtwo as a playable character for battles. It is believed that Mewtwo could arrive later as paid DLC. It can be believed that this release is the right way to kick off the holiday season, as players all over the world have been starved for another Smash Bros. game. Between December and spring of next year, games such as Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, and the Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask will make their appearance, giving both consoles undoubtedly a boost in sales. Definitely ‘tis the season for some smashing sales!
