The speculation wheel is currently spinning at full speed in the Halo-verse. Hunt the Signal has recently been completed, and competitors have managed to uncover many hints about the highly anticipating title from the grueling puzzles within the alternate reality game.

So what has been unveiled in the three-week long expenditure?

Well, a few GIFs that have been excavated appear to be viruses/cells. One appears to be growing, and the other three seem to be thriving. This has set the community ablaze with rumors. Here are the two main rumors floating around:

The cells relate to the Flood, Halo's take on Call of Duty Zombies, which would then mean that the Flood mode will make a return in Halo 5: Guardians.

The second theory claims that these GIFs are of the Nightfall Virus, which has been known to kill humans.

The splitting DNA image reveal only fuels the flames, as the process seen suggests mutation, so the truth could lean closer to the return of the Flood. Of course, there are other goodies that have been uncovered, of which can view all of in the YouTube video below. Upon completion of "Hunt the Signal" is cearly ominous and hype-inducing message:

"Congratulations.

You've reached the end. But it's just the beginning. The mysterious forerunner signal was originating from a remote location. The source, this lone symbol, was emanating from violent seismic activity on a remote human colony. You've hunted the signal's source, so the ONI can now investigate. Your endeavour has brought us one step closer to the truth.

If your team is selected, we'll contact you again shortly. Thank you for being part of Halo: Hunt the Signal."

Next to the statement is a symbol that looks eerily like the Guardian behind it.

Dun dun dun.

Halo 5 will release for the Xbox One sometime this fall. If you want to read more speculation over Halo 5, you're more than welcome to check out GZU's "All Hail the Conquering Halo 5 Speculation" article.
