Retro games are never going away. It's a fact, as we have noticed ultimate everything-in-one retro consoles being released and well-known game distributors like GameStop, who are introducing retro games and titles to their stores.

Some games are still being released on older formats like the upcoming indie scrolling scooter Dreamcast title Ghost Blade, and ports are no exception to this trend.

Part Grand Theft Auto, part 8-bit, the pop-culture stuffed Retro City Rampage will be making its way to MS-DOS.

...As in the format your current OS vomits on lest you install an emulator or visit Internet Archive.

A few days ago, Vblank proudly announced Retro City Rampage 486DX on Twitter, complete with the MS-DOS teaser image. For those that don't know of the popular indie title, Retro City Rampage pits you in the shoes of a thug-for-hire, who decides to become a henchman of a major crime syndicate led by The Jester. After an incident and a few years, the player encounters a time-traveling phone booth. He attempts to steal it but is flung into the year 20XX, where he is mistaken for a time-traveling hero. The player must thus find and gather rare parts to repair the booth while avoiding the popo, Jester, Bayside High School students, and Dr. Von Buttnick.  It carries the same gameplay concept as Grand Theft Auto, where the player can complete both side and main missions with a vast array of weapons and the ability to hijack vehicles.

From what has surfaced, the port is free for Retro City Rampage DX PC and Mac owners. Additionally, the 486DX port will also be compatible with the 386 (if with a co-processor), but expect the game to be incredibly slow. If you somehow don't have a 486 lying about your room or closet, don't fret. You can always download an emulator, such as the DOS-Box. If you don't have a single clue about how to emulator on your computer, look to the official site for the download and a guide to DOS-Box.
