Many players are already familiar with the Arma 2 mod that has become the standalone hit, DayZ. However, what many do not know is that there exists a free browser version of the game, though it is not exactly the version people would expect. A fan has recently released a tribute game to Bohemia Interactive's hit zombie survival game, called Mini DayZ (there are various spellings such as miniDayZ and MINIDAYZ). This game is a bit different than the official DayZ, with most of the changes residing in the 2D graphics and lack of multiplayer.

CannedBits, a Russian who's a major fan of the famous DayZ, has created this '90s Fallout-looking survival game, complete with a top down camera and sandbox mechanics. This game, which has been developed since the beginning of the year, has even received praise from Dean Hall, the creator of DayZ, himself:

"I have to say, I absolutely love miniDayZ. I think it's awesome, amazing, addictive, and brings something really new to the experience. I'm so glad you've been able to make it even better! Ignore the haters, the vast majority of people think it's fantastic and I am one of those people."

Hall hosts Mini DayZ as a browser game on the official DayZ site. People only need to log in, using their Bohemia Interactive profile, in order to begin playing. In concerns to the price, there is better news. There is no price tag for this game, whatsoever. So if you're a fan of DayZ (even if you aren't a fan, but instead a fan of retro-styled zombie survival games), it is highly recommended to pick up this little gem.
