Slow news day today, but slow news doesn’t mean no news, and some of that new news is often good news, at least if you’re interested in the new Bloodborne game that’s set to come out exclusively for the PlayStation 4.  Which I am. Which is why it’s my great delight to introduce you to your first ‘real’ look at straight-up no-cinimatics Bloodborne gameplay that’s been made public by sony.  That blurry leak of gameplay during E3 doesn’t count.  Check it out below.

It’s interesting to look at just for what it is, but for veterans of the series who are obsessed with this game (like myself) it’s an extremely interesting glimpse at all the changes this new game will have when compared to the three Souls games that came prior to it.   For example, we see the item wheel that’s usually in the lower left hand corner is this time next to the health and stanama, and only shows two item slots instead of four… one of which appears to be an ammo counter.   We see a new symbol where the “humanity” counter was, which looks like a giant orange flask, that doesn’t change no matter how high the number gets.  We see that switching between the two ‘modes’ of a melee weapon is seamless and can be executed mid-combo…. guns don’t do a lot of damage unless they’re counter, attacking, and we see dodging is a lot more free-flowing this time around.

Oh, and the enemies talk.  That’s a first in the Souls series. But then this isn’t a true Souls game, so...

All-in-all, it’s a very exciting look at the game that’s going to make me waste my money on a PS4 I wasn’t going to buy beforehand.   Now if you excuse me, I have go to panhandle next to a bridge.
