Well, this is quite the surprise! During 2017's PlayStation Press Conference in Japan, Square Enix has revealed that Final Fantasy IX has launched digitally on the PlayStation 4.

This classic, which launched in 2000, will see various enhancements that have also been included in the Steam version. You'll find improvements such as:

High-definition movies and character models.

Auto-save functionality.

Seven optional booster features, including high-speed mode and no encounter mode, the Master All Abilities booster (this allows players to automatically master weapons and gear), maximizing character levels, magic stone counts, and gil.

PlayStation 4 trophy support, share functionality and remote play with the PlayStation Vita.

Additionally, those who purchase this glorious title from the PlayStation Store will receive an original PlayStation 4 custom theme designed by Toshiyuki Itahana and eight PlayStation Network avatars.

Finally, you'll also be able to take advantage of a discount. From now until September 26, you can purchase Final Fantasy IX for $16.79. After that, it will be $20.99.
