EDF! EDF!

I probably have chanted the acronym a hundred times at this point. Despite the PlayStation 4 exclusive's Earth Defense Force 4.1's Mission Pack 1 being released not long ago, Mission Pack 2: Extreme Battle has already invaded the PSN Store. Though the last Mission Pack boasted some tough difficulty, Extreme Battle pledges to make you cry for mercy with its 23 Extra-Hard DLC Missions that blends in returning missions from Earth Defense Force 2025 with all new, exclusive missions.

The plot? Well, if you want a quick run down of the Mission Pack:

"The Ravager army has lined up every unit at their disposal for their final assault on Earth, and it's up to the EDF to crush them once and for all!"

Told you it was quick. Anyway, Mission Pack 2 will be free for the first two weeks of its release, serving as a thank you to players who have waited for the developers to fix certain issues with the saving system.

Honestly, I never ran into any issues with the saving system, oddly enough. Either way, the problems are fixed, and the Mission Pack 2 is the reward for patience... at least for the first couple of weeks. After this glorious period, the pack will be priced at $9.99.

Those who have missed out on Mission Pack 1: Time of the Mutants can purchase the pack for $9.99 as well, which features 26 frighteningly-hard missions.

If you're curious about the game itself, then you should be pleased to know that we have a review for Earth Defense Force 4.1, which we rated a 6.5 out of 10, ready for your reading pleasure.
