Hbomberguy has made history in charity live streaming this weekend, after live streaming a 101% run of Donkey Kong 64 for 57 hours and raising over  for the Mermaids. Though he wasn't alone, attracting pro gamers and politicians alike.

Harry Brewis, known online as Hbomberguy started a charity live stream with the goal of raising money for the Transgender Rights Charity Mermaids UK. The idea came after the organization was defunded of the UK lottery in response to an anti-trans campaign by UK TV writer Grahan Lineham.

The live stream went viral as a number of internet celebrities promoted it, praising Brewis' kindness. While folks like Matthew Mercer and Cher would share the stream with others, some prominent figures went as far as to make an appearance. So many, in fact, that It'd be easier to make it into a bullet list.
  • Mermaids CEO Susie Green
  • Gaming critic/personality Jim Sterling
  • Developer John Romero
  • Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez
  • Guardian journalist Owen Jones
  • YouTube Personality Natalie Wynn
  • Actress Mara Wilson
  • Atari 2600 Space Invaders Champion Rebecca Heineman
Mermaids UK is an organization that looks to raise awareness for gender nonconformity and gender dysphoria in youths. The group pushes for improvements in professional services for trans children, having won a number of awards for their contributions.

The stream has concluded at this point and Brewis is most likely taking a long, well deserved rest. The stream itself remains live, displaying an empty gaming chair. This is so that late participants can still donate and have their donations count on the marker and appear on-screen. Taking 57 hours to reach his 101% completion goal, he raised $343,646 for Mermaids at the time of writing this.
