Bungie Promises to Fix Missing Content Problem in Destiny 2

Well at least they're listening.

Bungie can’t stop screwing up, huh? First, they lock customization options for Destiny 2 behind a paywall thanks to temporary color toners… then, they secretly reduced the amount of EXP people got at high levels to try to coerce them into paying for loot boxes… and now, with the latest expansion, Curse of Osiris, they’ve actually locked players out of end-game content if they didn’t want to buy the expansion, meaning that people who have the base game can do even less now than they did when they first bought it.

Bungie has worked hard to fix all these problems: they introduced more permanent armor customization options in a recent patch and they’ve “fixed” the EXP problem they themselves tried to get away with. And now that players are angry about being unable to access late-game content, they’re fixing that too.

First, they try to justify it:

“The Destiny endgame features a variety of activities and playlists that we want to remain relevant to players as they grow more powerful. In Destiny 1, as your character grew more powerful throughout each expansion, some of our best content, like Vault of Glass, was left behind and lost its relevance for players. We wanted a better solution for Destiny 2, where all of our Endgame activities could stay relevant as each Expansion causes your Guardian to grow more and more powerful.”

Then, they backtracked, because of course they have:

"We’ve heard from the community that both of these plans aren’t working. The Prestige Raid was a novel experience that players value, even if they don’t own Curse of Osiris, and it was a mistake to move that experience out of reach. Throughout the lifetime of the Destiny Franchise, Trials has always required that players owned the latest Expansion. However, for Destiny 2, Trials of The Nine launched as part of the main game, so it’s not right for us to remove access to it."

Fortunately, a fix is incoming: they’re making it easier to get the trophies that were previously impossible to get without the expansion, and they’re reducing the power level required to do the Prestige Leviathan raid back to 300.

So they fixed the problem by re-introducing the problem from the first Destiny. That sucks, but hey, it’s better than what they had before. Now it would just be nice if developers stopped wasting everyone’s times by trying to screw us subtly like this and just focus on making some damn good games.

A boy can dream.
